Disability awareness
arcenciel, CRS, EDAN and the human rights center at the Beirut Arab University have joined efforts to organize and implement the Disability Awareness Day, under the theme “Don’t Dis my Ability” on March 22nd 2012 .
Throughout the afternoon, the work done by students from different faculties were presented in the BAU campus courtyard: a comprehensive study of the accessibility of the Rafik al-Hariri building, a campaign of awareness and information on the law 220/2000, the presentation of data on disability and famous people with disability and their accomplishments...
In addition, students were able to be informed and made aware of the problems of accessibility and accommodation thanks to a wheelchair obstacle course and the presentation of Fadi Sayegh’s handicap adapted car (LPHU).
The event ended with a panel discussion which united Mrs. Fadia Farah, president of LASA (Lebanese Association for Self Advocacy), Mr. Ibrahim Abdallah (Lebanese Council of Disabled People) and moderated by Fadi Halabi (EDAN). Many videos which were made for the occasion by the students of the University were also projected.
