A job that provides

Dressed in his gray suit, Elie seems very happy and confident in his new job. Two months ago, a young man of 25 with degrees in management and marketing, landed a job at Commercial Insurance, an insurance company which is located north of Beirut.

Despite his disability in the right hand, Elie feels invincible. "Nothing is impossible," he said. His goal was to continue his studies for a Masters all the while working full time. Elie had attended several interviews before landing the job, but his efforts were to no avail in part because of his disability.

"Commercial Insurance" is a company that does good work and I think insurance is an area that provided me a promising career. The atmosphere is professional and I am appreciated as a person. My parents are happy that I build my own dream and support me today. I went through a very difficult phase, but now I feel much better. My parents encourage me because now I have more responsibilities, they even push me to buy my own house. "

"People constantly make judgments about people with disabilities. They assume that a person with a disability cannot perform a job. It used to annoy me, but now I can overcome this, whereas, once I even thought of traveling abroad so as not to be affronted with this terrible mentality. Today I feel fulfilled but do not know what I would have done if I had not found a job.

The insurance company was very pleased when they hired Elie. "Elie has a positive attitude and is well integrated within the office even though he was a bit shy during the first week, like most employees," said Roger Zaccar, Deputy Director of the company.
